Why was the "Accreditation of Chinese Collegiate School of Business (ACCSB)" renamed to the Accreditation Council for Chinese Business Education (ACCBE)?
Since 2012, the Chinese Management Association (CMA) has been officially recognized by the Ministry of Education as a qualified "domestic professional evaluation institution." The "Accreditation of Chinese Collegiate School of Business (ACCSB)" launched by CMA was the first professional accreditation for Chinese higher business and management education. Starting in 2018, in response to changes in the Ministry of Education's evaluation policies, the work of recognizing departmental quality assurance systems was launched. Therefore, since August 1, 2020, it has been renamed as the "Accreditation Council for Chinese Business Education (ACCBE)" under the CMA. -
What are the differences between ACCSB and other international accreditations (e.g., AACSB and EQUIS)?
- Compared to the AACSB and the EFMD's EQUIS accreditation, ACCSB is designed specifically for the characteristics and current status of Taiwan's higher education system to assist accredited units in conducting quality assurance work. In particular, university and graduate education in Taiwan is executed by "departments/institutes," unlike foreign business education which operates at the "college/school" level. Therefore, the ACCSB review committee carefully examines the documents of departments/degree programs and conducts in-depth interviews with the heads of each unit to understand the educational objectives, positioning, requirements for graduates' core competencies, and related formal and informal curriculum of each degree program. Afterward, it proposes specific and feasible improvement suggestions for the difficulties encountered by each unit during organizational and institutional adjustments and execution, and urges each unit to implement them within the accreditation validity period.
- ACCSB is particularly concerned about whether the design of formal and informal curriculum is linked to the talent cultivation goals of the college/department/degree program, and whether students' core competencies can be genuinely cultivated according to the original goals before graduation.
- ACCSB will invite well-known senior domestic scholars to serve as Mentoring Professors based on the attributes of the accredited schools. During the accreditation application period, Mentoring Professors will provide continuous and close guidance and offer professional and concrete suggestions based on the positioning and conditions of the applicant unit.

What are the differences between the ACCSB and ACCPB accreditation? And why haven’t we seen any ACCPB accreditations issued so far?
Since the authority to confer degrees at universities in Taiwan lies with individual departments, the courses and faculty of each department are essentially independent. However, due to varying development timelines among different departments, and the fact that some schools have not established independent business and management colleges, certain business-related departments might be affiliated with other colleges.
Therefore, in addition to the existing ACCSB accreditation that targets all units of the college, we have also introduced the ACCPB accreditation. This accreditation exclusively centers on the suitability of the educational goals, development strategies, educational content, operational systems, educational effectiveness, and quality assurance mechanisms of individual departments.
However, due to ACCSB accreditation’s longer history and stronger reputation in Taiwan, widely acknowledged by the public, departments/programs tend to give priority to applying for ACCSB accreditation. Even those departments that perform less favorably against accreditation standards make efforts to collaborate and enhance their performance to attain college-wide accreditation. Moreover, for business-related departments not affiliated with a business college, if all departments can meet the conditions required for accreditation, they remain eligible for ACCSB accreditation. Consequently, as of now, no ACCPB accreditations have been granted.
